The Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Harsh Vardhan has announced a new category for the selection in MBBS and BDS courses for the academic year 2020-21. The new category will be called ‘Wards of COVID Warriors’. Under this category, five seats will be reserved for the children of COVID Warriors in medical colleges for MBBS and BDS Admission.

The COVID Warriors will include ASHA workers working on the ground, nurses, and doctors who have lost their lives in the pandemic on COVID related duty. The admission would be done on the basis of merit under the national quota.

The Minister said, “This will honour the Solemn Sacrifice of all COVID warriors who served with selfless dedication for the cause of duty and humanity.”
