Elementary Schools to Reopen in Assam from January 1

The Education Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that all the elementary schools of the state will reopen from January 1, 2021. The students will be allowed to visit the schools in a phased manner. There will be only one or two classes for nursery class students in a day.

The Minister further added that the detailed SOPs regarding the reopening of nursery schools will be released soon by the Education Ministry. He also allowed that hostels for final year school and college students will also be reopened from December 15. The Minister had previously said that the students of classes other than Class 8, 10, and 12 will be promoted to the next higher class without examination.

The Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) will hold and Class 8, Class 10, and Class 12 board exams in 2021. The Class 8 exams will be conducted by the schools later.
