Karnataka allows schools to collect 70% of tuition fees

Parents’ organisations held a protest on 11 January seeking government intervention in fee regulation. In a relief for parents of private schools in Karnataka, the education department has said it will allow schools to collect only 70% of the tuition fees this academic year in view of the pandemic.The annual tuition fee comprises of the salaries of teachers, non teaching staff and facilities like library, lab and sports. The fees that cannot be taken include development fee, any donation to trust or society, fees for optional services like transportation, extra curricular activities like swimming pool, horse riding etc.
