Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati (IIT-G) Researchers have developed a low-cost membrane technology from agricultural resources that can produce psychoactive drugs and anti-aging compounds.
This technology will use citrus fruits and peels, berries, onions, and other farm resources to produce caffeine (psychoactive drugs) and flavonoids (anti-aging compounds). The membrane technology used only water which will reduce the cost of pharmaceutical stimulants and anti-aging compounds.
This technology has been developed by Mihir Kumar Purkait who is a professor of the Department of Chemical Engineering and his student V.L. Dhadge.
