The Supreme Court has rejected the interim request of granting a 50 percent quota for OBC candidates in UG and PG medical courses in the Tamil Nadu run medical colleges for the 2020-21 academic year. The plea was filed by the Tamil Nadu Government and the AIADMK party.
A bench comprising Justices L Nageswara Rao, Hemant Gupta, and Ajay Rastogi dismissed the pleas for implementation of a 50 percent quota for the current academic year.
The state government and the ruling AIADMK party said that the high court had not specified that the OBC quota should be implemented in the current academic year itself.
