UGC Issued Guidelines for re-opening of colleges and universities

University Grants Commission has issued guidelines for the reopening of colleges and universities across the country. The commission has also directed about the guidelines which need to be followed by the students as well as the staff. According to the guidelines issued by the Home Ministry, the colleges and universities which are outside the containment zone can be opened.

The UGC has also stated that for the state universities and colleges, the state governments will decide on the resumption of physical classes. The institutions are also advised to make a plan for international students who cannot join the physical classes due to travel restrictions.

The notice issued by the UGC reads, “Six-day schedule may be followed so that classes can be conducted in phases and the seating arrangement be made keeping in view the requirements of physical distancing. Depending on the availability of space in classrooms or learning sites, up to 50% of students may be allowed on a rotation basis to attend the classes.”
