Smart Devices and Smart Homes are becoming more common day by day. “By the year 2020, the number of devices connected through the internet worldwide is expected to reach 31 billion” – as per a report from Statista.

Now, by using IoT, several devices can be connected and communicated with people. “The global smart home market is forecast to reach a value of more than $53 Billion by 2022”- said a report from Zion Market Research. In 1939, the article “The Electric Home of the Future” was published. This discussed the use of remotely connected devices. In the future, along with more compact connecting and controlling home appliances, the positioning of indoor appliances is going to play a vital role. Bill Gates, in his book ‘The Road Ahead’, wrote that” First thing, as you come in, you will be presented with an electronic pin to clip to your clothes. This pin will connect you to the electronic services of the house. This electronic pin will use the information to try to meet and even anticipate your needs- all as unobtrusively as possible.” By this, we can get an idea of the implementations and future perspectives of smart home technology. Smart home technology is often being used in Hospitals, Shopping Malls, Parking spaces, etc. A study by ‘Gartner’ reveals that a modern family home will consist of around 500 smart home devices by the year 2022.

Thus, it can be concluded that in the future, more smart home adaptations are going to place all over the world and it is going to provide us more efficient, cost-effective and secured smart homes and smart home appliances.
